My Life: Child of the Wild

An 11-year-old travels from the Peruvian Amazon to Lima and the Pacific.

Part of CBBC's long-running My Life strand, which tells the stories of children from around the world, Child of the Wild follows 11-year-old Geremias Manqueriapa, a member of the Machiguenga community in the Peruvian Amazon.

When he is invited to Lima, Geremias makes an extraordinary journey from the heart of the jungle to the city and the Pacific Ocean. Along the way he shows off his skill at grub foraging and fishing, and shares his hopes for the future.

Directed by Almudena Garcia-Parrado and edited by David Moya. He built the film around Geremias's own voice, letting the contrast between the rainforest and the city tell the story.
